Climbing Songs Part 2 – Countdown from 20-16
20. Radiohead – Climbing Up The Walls – Becky B
Dark, brooding, troubled, I like it!
19. Tasmin Archer – The Higher You Climb – Ellie T
Hmm, let’s see, “The higher you climb, the further you fall…”
Thank you Ellie! Great tune though.
18. Sam and Dave – Hold on I’m Coming – Fiona H
This song was written by Isaac Hayes and David Porter and has been covered by LOADS of people including Tom Jones, BB King and Eric Clapton, Aretha Franklin, The Tempations, Boney M and Hanson.
However, here is the Sam and Dave version of this song and I’d like to dedicate it to our wall instructor, for obvious reasons.
17. Secret Garden and Brian Kennedy – You Raise me Up – Cath (with help from Fiona)
I’ll try to anticipate your questions:
Q: Why isn’t this in the cheese section?
A: I’d already finished it, there isn’t space.
Q: Why didn’t you use the Josh Groban version?
A: He looks like David Schwimmer with hair and sings like Kermit the Frog.
Q: Why this version?
A: It’s the original and the best… OK, do a Google image search on “Brian Kennedy singer”. Phwoarr.
16. M-People – Moving on Up – Chris M and Scott S
I’d just like to apologise at this point if I’ve confused anyone by convincing them that Heather Small is Alexandra Burke’s mum. Alexandra Burke’s mum is, of course, Melissa Bell from Soul II Soul. Oops.
Back to M-People, click below for a nostalgia trip back to 1993 – you won’t regret it.

Love it – keep ‘em coming!
Brilliant! Sorry about the lyrics for my suggestion, maybe not the most reassuring! I am going to sponsor you both by the way, but not till I’ve seen photographic evidence of you off the ground (and not just jumping). You will deserve every penny of it.
So is the first step up off the ground good enough proof Ellie? I can easily do that! lol
I think you have to be above head height off the ground: That’ll do for me! I think this places you at an advantage over Cath in terms of the height you have to reach!
